Lintels are unique from building to building. Depending upon the
budget and taste of the builder a craftsman of the 19th century would
take this opportunity to add an element of style and artistic beauty
to a structure. These elements defined each structure and the prairie
style. They are as varied as the men who carved them and as beautiful
as the landscape that inspired them.
Sills often times followed in the style of the lintel and were
usually weatherized to help shed water during a storm.
The Jambs are the vertical portion of an opening. They are
normally sold with their accompanying lintels, sills or arches. From
time to time we will sell them separately. |
